Year 7 & 9 Remote Learning Project

Year 7 & 9 Remote Learning Music Project

Year 7 had been learning how to publish their own music on Sibelius (music publishing software). We used Pachebel’s Canon to learn about the various functions of the software. The chord pattern that Pachelbel used has been used by countless musicians since as an inspiration.

Whilst working from home year 7s were each given MP3 files of a variety of extracts of songs which fitted over the chord pattern. Using their phones or iPads, after having learnt the music, they recorded themselves singing and then submitted their recordings to the Music Department through Google Classroom.

Year 9 at the same time had been learning about writing variations, so pupils in their Music lessons wrote melodic variations and countermelodies that would fit with the Pachelbel ground bass.

We were then able to stitch these fragments together using Logic Pro and have arrived at the recording you can hear here. I hope you enjoy it!

Sound Cloud MP3 of the complete song.
